How Often is Hazmat Training Required?

If you’re a hazmat employee, you’ll need to complete hazmat training that meets the requirements in the regulations within the first 90 days of hire or change in job function.

After your initial training, you’ll need to receive training every three years to stay current. Let TCP Compliance get your team into compliance and deliver your recurrent training!

Transform Your DOT Hazmat Training With TCP Compliance.

Your training must meet the requirements as listed in 49 CFR 172.704. Keep this in mind; not all HM training is created equal. Just because you may have completed some HM training, doesn’t mean that fulfills all DOT requirements.

Our approach combines authoritative information that instills confidence that your workforce gains the knowledge needed to not only get DOT compliant hazmat regulations, but stay compliant allowing your fleet operations to consistently meet DOT safety standards.

Who Needs DOT Hazmat Training?

Any individual who is involved in the transportation of hazardous materials by highway, air, or water must receive DOT hazmat training that meets the requirements in 172.704 of the HMR. This includes employees who handle, package, label, or transport hazardous materials, as well as those involved in the preparation of hazardous materials for transportation.
